VINNE SKOLECUPEN» subheadline=»Elin Merete Johannessen Iden ble første styreleder i Hop BBK og hun og nestleder Tone Roll-Tuft ble invitert til å delta på Basket-tinget i Drammen . De deltok begge og det ble en minnerik opplevelse. Marit Helland ble styrets kasserer og Mette Paulsen ble sekretær, de var 8-10 jenter som deltok på stiftelsesmøte.
Det var en «grasrotbevegelse» som var startet av jenter som ville ha eget lag og de skulle slå Ulriken i skolecupen – og det gjorde de ! De ble oppfordret til å starte egen klubb i kretsserien da de var så god på skolelaget, de ble også tatt ut til mesterskap i Oslo og de vant klassen sin.
Det første året hadde klubben 2 jentelag med i serien og det ble siden 4 lag og de ble fort 50-60 medlemmer. Responsen var enorm og snart var Hop BBK den største klubben i byen.
Det var ingen foreldre som var med å drev Hop BBK fra starten og da stifterne ble eldre og begynte på utdannelse i inn og utland kom Elin Merete sin svigerinne Therese Iden inn som styreleder. Hun la ned mye arbeid for å utvikle klubben videre gjennom 3-4 år som styreleder – det var i denne perioden Hop ble Norgesmester med damer i 1 divisjon.
Det var Anine Birkeland, kjent idrettslærer på Hop Ungdomsskole, som var første trener for Hopjentene og siden var det Harald Furnes (Ulriken)..
Odd Petter Hodnekvam, eller Pit som han ble kalt, må også nevnes. Det var han som tok dame-laget til «nye høyder». Hop BBK ble ett godt lag på kort tid og spilte i 1 divisjon (eliteserie i dag).
Hop BBK ble Norgesmester og spillere som må nevnes er Yngvild S Hannestad, Anne Kavlie Jørgensen, Bente Paulsen, Linda Iversen Klanderud, Benedikte Halvorsen, Liv Knudsen, Anette Skarstein, Therese Iden, Alise Fauske, Nina Hop og det kom overgangsspillere fra Ulriken og fra Oslo kom Hege Flatland.
Det var altså damelag som var starten på Hop BBK, siden kom det gutte- og jentelag.
Knut Jacobsen må også nevnes. Han ble en sentral driver videre etter Therese Iden og det var på dette tidspunktet foreldrene kom inn i styre og stell i Hop BBK. Knut Jacobsen var en av ildsjelene i Hop i mange år og har også vært en sentral person både regionalt og nasjonalt i NBBF.
Til 15 års jubileet står det at vi hadde vært kretsmestere 45 ganger, 31 andreplasser og 25 tredjeplasser, tilsammen 101 kretsmedaljer. Dette står det stor respekt av ! Klubben hadde ved 15 årsjubilleet hatt 2 NM seire med Junior Damer ! Det var den gang registrert 45 basketklubber i Bergen og omegn og det var fordelt på senior kvinner og menn samt junior kvinner og menn. Totalt var det 3197 spillere registrert og Hop BBK hadde 290 medlemmer – dvs like mange som de har i 2019.
En annen stor markering i Hop BBKs historie var da klubben fikk egen treningshall sammen med skolen. Dette hadde vi ventet på lenge ! Vi takker Helge Gullaksen spesielt og andre for stor innsats gjennom mange år som pådriver til at kommunen bygget hallen som stod ferdig i 2012.
Hop jenter U16 vant NM i 2013 og 2014 og U19 jenter i 2014.
I 2013 startet Hop BBK (og Loddefjord) ett samarbeid med Bergen Elite hvor tidligere styreleder i Hop BBK Fredrik Hannestad er leder og ildsjel. I 2019 har vi over 10 damespillere på Bergen Elites lag og de satser de neste årene på også å kunne stille med herrelag i eliteserien.
Hop Stars startet opp høsten 2015 med hovedtrener i Hop Tanja Lucina. Laget ble dannet da Martin Hop Andersen gjerne ville spille basket i Hop. Dette ble starten på laget som i dag i 2019 er 12 spillere. De har vært på mange cuper i utlandet da det pr nå ikke er kamptilbud i Norge. Primus motor for Hop Stars er mangeåring ildsjel, tidligere spiller, foreldrekontakt i Hop, Nina Hop. The basketball programme consists of one 30 min. session per week and all children are grouped on best ability.
